Sports Massage

Sports Massage Therapy helps to eliminate stress and tension that builds up in the body's soft tissues during physical activity. Minor injuries and lesions occur caused by the overexertion and/or overuse, massage helps to break it down quickly and effectively. This form of treatment is not just for sports people, anybody can benefit from sports massage. This includes people who are in physically demanding jobs and those not so quite obvious. Sports Massage tends to be deeper and more intense.

Electro-therapy

Electrotherapy is a form of treatment, were small electrode impulses are used to repair and stimulate muscle tissue and to increase sensations and muscle strength. When providing this form of treatment, several different forms of electro-therapy can be used, such as i.e.: ultrasound, interferential therapy, trans cutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), laser therapy and muscle stimulation. The benefits are that electro-therapy uses sound waves to speed up the healing process.

Cryo-therapy

Cryo-therapy is very effective in reducing swelling and reducing pain. In the clinic an ice pack is applied for a maximum of fifteen minutes to the area affected.

Oil or an alternative barrier (for those suffering from nut allergies) is applied to the area before applying the pack to prevent the ice from burning and the pack is wrapped in a towel.

This protection mechanism allows healing as tissues can be damaged by the thermal, chemical or mechanical energy known as “noxious stimulus”.
